Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you sign up for TrainSMS, we collect the following information directly from you:

  • Phone number — required to deliver your workout texts, verify your identity via SMS code, and process your subscription.
  • Name — to personalize your coaching experience.
  • Age, height, and weight — used to calibrate your training program and nutrition guidance.
  • Fitness goals and health notes — any information you voluntarily share about your current fitness level, goals, injuries, or health conditions.
  • Email address (optional) — used to send workout summaries or account notifications if you choose to provide it.
  • Workout replies — text responses you send back to TrainSMS (e.g., "Y" for completed, feedback on difficulty) are stored to improve your program week over week.
  • Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. Stripe retains payment data per their own privacy policy.

2. SMS Consent

You explicitly opt in to SMS messaging by entering your phone number on our sign-up page, verifying that number via a one-time SMS code, and completing a paid subscription checkout. By completing these steps, you consent to receive recurring automated SMS messages from TrainSMS related to your fitness program.

Message frequency varies based on the workout schedule you select (typically 1 to 7 messages per week). Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

To opt out at any time: reply STOP to any text message. You will receive one final confirmation, and no further messages will be sent. You may also reply HELP for support information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the TrainSMS service. Specifically:

  • To generate and deliver your personalized workout and nutrition guidance via SMS.
  • To send check-in messages and adapt your program based on your replies.
  • To process your monthly subscription payment through Stripe.
  • To send account-related communications (e.g., billing notices, service updates) via SMS or email.
  • To diagnose technical issues and improve the reliability and quality of our service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate TrainSMS:

  • Twilio — SMS delivery provider. Your phone number and message content are transmitted through Twilio's platform to route texts to your mobile carrier. Twilio's privacy policy governs their handling of this data.
  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card and billing data. Their privacy policy governs payment information.
  • TrainSMS — hosting and infrastructure provider. TrainSMS operates its own platform, which provides server infrastructure, database hosting, and related services.
  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — your profile and fitness data are sent to Anthropic's API to generate personalized workout programs. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models per their usage policies.

5. Cookies and Tracking

TrainSMS uses minimal cookies — primarily session cookies required for the sign-up and account flow to function. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. Session cookies expire when you close your browser or within 8 hours, whichever comes first.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data for the duration of your active subscription. If you cancel:

  • Your account data is retained for 30 days to allow for reactivation.
  • After 30 days of cancellation, your data is permanently deleted from our systems.
  • You may request immediate deletion at any time (see Your Rights below).
  • SMS delivery logs are retained per Twilio's standard data retention practices.
  • Payment records are retained per Stripe's standard practices and applicable law.

7. Your Rights

SMS Opt-Out: Reply STOP to any text message to unsubscribe immediately. You will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion — request that we delete your account and all associated data. Email support@trainsms.com with the subject line "Delete my data." We will process your request within 30 days.
  • Right to correct — request that we correct inaccurate information we hold about you.
  • Right to withdraw SMS consent — reply STOP to any message at any time. Opting out of SMS does not automatically cancel your subscription.

8. CCPA and GDPR Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete your data, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. Our lawful basis for processing your data is the performance of our contract with you (delivering the service you subscribed to).

9. Children

TrainSMS is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us immediately at support@trainsms.com.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by SMS or email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
